Detailed Outline

Title: "College: extra pressure, extra pounds"

1. Anecdote of me when I arrive to my commons for the first time. Illustration of my impression.

2. "I have been skinny my whole life; I am going to stay that way in here?"

3. "This issue of the freshman 15 is something real or a myth? this can be explore from different points of views of nutritionists, students and even common cookers".

4. This started when I first heard about this subject in a meeting of friends I had made here and I saw it irrational and felt the urge to investigate it very deeply.

5. Interview with nutritionist (or person related to that) and exposing its point of view about it.

6. Interview with senior student (or person related to that) and exposing its point of view about it. Experience as he/she as freshman. where there changes?

7. Interview with cooker of commons (or person related to that) and exposing its point of view about it. Data about what is mostly eaten in the commons, what food is cooked and questions related to that.

8. Conclusion: An exposition of the contrast of the different points of views. Not taking sides just showing the information and letting the readers decide if its a problem or not.

    I love the title. Really great. Just remember, it probably needs a question mark: "College: Extra Pressure, Extra Pounds?" since your paper is, essentially, trying to find out if the myth of the FRESHMAN 15 is true or not.

    I think it's fine to use an opening scene of the massive amount of food choices in the dining room and then asking a question of your own concern before segueing into the idea of the Freshman 15 and telling us what it is about and how you've come to worry about it. Essentially, your paper is a personal quest to find out whether this really happens and what you can do to avoid it.

    Just make sure you are using more than just your personal experiences to back up your statements. It can't all be: What I heard, what I saw. I like that as an opening device. But I think that, after your nut graph, beginning with the background, we need information from real sources: nutritionists, things you've read about the Freshman 15. Give us REAL info -- not just personal conjecture.
